I'd nearly forgotten I'd made this short series. It was two or three years ago and I was getting sick of actually playing. The result of my boredom was me farting around in MS Paint with FFXI drawings.

My original drawing was done for my friend who was getting the crap kicked out of him by Charm-resistant spiders in Korroloka. It looks ridiculous intentionally.

That led to more farting around. I'd endured a a full week of having to heal in Valkurm Dunes before I made this next one (people are so obssessed with having Protect on that they don't realize how insignificant it is compared to everything else).

Eventually I started to actually put a little time into detail. I can't really tell you which of these was made in which order.

Made for a friend's "eccentric" mule.

A hefty portion of the DRK population at the time was completely misinformed about game mechanics, so I thought it only fitting to show one with his Bible.

If you don't get this one, you haven't been in enough parties with bad RDMs.

PROJECT: FRANZZ. I had intended to make him a 75 RDM, but I was swiftly losing interest in the game as a whole. He only made it to 35.

This seems to be everyone's favorite. I strayed quite a bit from my normally quick drawings to being kind of anal.

I didn't have this last one hosted in JPG.

Nah man, the stick figure drawings are what give them the style. I found most of them rather entertaining, and the detail he or she did decide to put into them was really well done :P As a fellow ms paint user onry, i know how hard it is to make stuff look good.

Yeah, the original intention was to make everything as simple as possible, imitating a style that could be viewed as a child's (notice the expression of Fafnir's face).

It's somewhat inspired by Natalie Dee's webcomic. www.nataliedee.com

 cute, reminds me of a comic where the band is dedicated Elvis fans, but there was this fan that only wanted to hear them play Rolling Stones XD

I really like the catuar nerfted one, the orc, the rng one and others are pretty funny, but i like those ones cuz it their one of the only ones that isnt stick figures kinda. I really think if these were drawn better they would be great !. I know you call it a style but its not really a style if anyone can do it. A style would be like giving them all something unique i guess, umm like LVLup is a good idea of a funny ffxi comic with a unique style.

But... you're the person who always says to try to copy parts of other peoples styles. Sooo, if every artist did that, there'd be no such thing as a personal style, would there? Where is the uniqueness you were just talking about in that?

Drawing semi-stick figures would be a style, seeing as the artist has made a consistant method of art out of it. Art is not something that is made to meet everyones liking. And you have to have an open mind about things like that, because i mean look at all of todays famous painters... :(

Yes i said copy but not everything an artist does, and an artist usually has a role model or someone they look up to. Some parts of naruto were drawn different to show his love of that artist for example. but he did not copy every little thing that artist did. And most artist will tell you anime is the lowest form or art, cuz they assume its all the same. Maybe if he drew the body out instead of just 1 line for a leg ect...doesnt even have to look good, look at the cartoons on adultswim. Like draw the rest of body like the head or hat in these pics. I have a good quote to state what a style is..but i dont want to do it on this guys thread, cuz i like the ideas behind his stuff. so if anyone wants to know what it is you can PM me. sorry Frappuccino42 for writing this on ur thread XD

Well, this is a webcomic not a Doujin. Stick figures are emphasized for the comedic value. I'm capable of doing much more impressive "art" on paper, but using MS Paint and keeping it true to stick-figured characters is the theme and heart of what I'd made.

As seen in the link I posted earlier (www.nataliedee.com), the author took simple, unartistic drawings and turned them into internet phenomena.

My three favorite Natalie Dee's:

see now those are better done! ther not exactly stick figures but they are simple, the text looks way better too. I could say more but this is just an internet cartoon, its not designed to impress a great amount of people. And thats not really my statement thats the Principles of Graphic Design that i learned from my school.
Contrast
Repetition

Proximity

Well, I'd emphasize the word "comic" again, but I don't think it would be of any use.

The entire point of the style was for me not get "better". In fact the more time I spent on drawings of higher quality, the more the series' original spirit was undermined. Every character is supposed to have a somewhat-detailed face while having nothing but lines for a body. To change it would be turning it into something entirely new.

"Writing" on MS Paint was difficult, but I made no attempt to use premade fonts or extra effort on my text just because I wanted it to have an amateur feel.

Most of Natalie Dee's drawings are essentially stick-figured characters; I just happened to show the ones that were not.

Her human characters are a circle, a box, and some lines combined.
