Random Tech news

Considering i like looking up random "tech" stuff, from computer parts to general tech info, thought I'd just compile it into one thread, where people can also hold discussions and stuff O_o

----------------

Most every current filesystem today has a "bitrot" where files can over time be corrupted. Skips in music, glitches in video playback, all bitrot that slowly corrupts stuff on your PC.

next generation file systems will fix these problems, but it may be years for it to happen unfortunately (well for average consumers).

Newegg now accepts bitcoins for payment!

Not like you could effectively make any bitcoin currency with your PC now, but if you did in the past, think of all the stuff you could buy~

Speaking of bitcoint, who knew bitcoin was actually outlawed in california... about 165 years ago? :cwtf2:

Nvidia GTX 880 possibly.

Considering the amount of power conenctions it requires and possible ram it has, looks like its going to be one those single video cards to power 60fps at 4K res by itself (on high/utlra quality game settings!)

or at least I hope so :csad2:

If all goes well, and with that picture above, we may see some 800's finally!

Nvidia 880 expected launch time frame is coming up, also an estimated price range now has shown up

http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-g...nding-october/

looks like it will be around $500 for a Video card potentially 35% faster then a 780 (if those mystery numbers from a potential 880 benchmark posted earlier are real anyway!)

I'll wait for some real benchmarks before jumping in myself! *stares at the 670 in the PC....*

Waiting for the CPU that comes with support of stacked ram myself ! The aging i7 3770K works fine as is...! >.>

Also in the news... Windows 8.1 coming soon

http://wccftech.com/microsoft-window...e-3-windows-9/

and a mention of windows 9 may come soon also...! The most interesting thing about the article however is...

Quote:

The source indicates that Microsoft might even cut Windows XP, Vista and especially Windows 7 Users (50% of the entire user base I might add) some kind of deal by giving them a free upgrade to Windows 9 directly.
Personally, I will probably wait to see what all the potential herp derp a new OS release will bring with it. I don't think microsoft has release any OS excluding windows 7, without some form of problem >.> (well windows 7 had some but they were minor and only affected certain system configurations)

Gulkeeva 08-04-2014 11:42 AM

its happening!

http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-rele...l-controls.htm

net neutrality's defeat has lead to this very exciting moment (for big companies wanting to make more off you!)

Pay for specific services...!
Facebook on your phone for $5.00 a month, twitter for another $5.00 a month, and more, just pileup on them "special services".

I still run on a 920 Bloomfield fairly well. But Sabretooth motherboard isn't doing so well; and I already killed an EVGA board. I think I might have a difficult time finding any reasonably priced LGA1366 socket boards.

I've also heard that Windows 9 might be free for some users too.
