Anyone here tried to successfully ripped models from a browser?

Sample:
http://cgig.ru/en/2017/01/ninja-ripp...eb-ripping-en/

Especially ripping unreleased models from https://3d.nicovideo.jp/

It's her first name in upper case letters. It's written on the bottom of her shoes but it's damn hard to find art of her where you can see the bottom of her shoes.

I have a Blu-ray burner now so I've graduated to backing up my stuff onto BD-R. I'm only halfway through my models folder and I'm on my fourth disc already; I shudder to think how many discs it would take if I was still using DVDs (although five of my six big model folders are in the first half of the alphabet so hopefully it'll only take one or two more). When I'm done I'm probably going to go back to my old DVD collections and recompile them onto BDs to save jewel cases.

BTW... does the morph slider mirroring function work better on newer versions of PMXEditor? This was only around 200 vertices to mirror and it still screwed it up on 0.139.

Any chance someone know the pass for this model?
https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm27668525

and can someone find the password in the video for this one?
https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm28647905

Thanks in advance.

(I thought I had these Momiji models, but these are ones I don't have.)

First one is the word momi 3 times in a row, all lower case, no spaces.

While it doesn't help your problem, you could copy the offset from the opposite working side manually, the amount of tedium involved depends on how many are in the wrong place or very slightly asymmetrical.

I still have a CD/DVD RW in this case. It's not plugged in, but it's there. Maybe I should steal your idea and upgrade it.

That's what I wound up doing. The reason it wasn't working with the mirror function is because the model isn't symmetrical. I didn't find that out until I examined each corresponding vertex's x/y/z coordinates. Given the modeler is no n00b and it would be incredibly lazy to have that happen by mistake since most modern modeling software can mirror perfectly, my conclusion is he did it on purpose to make it harder to edit. I got it mirrored eventually, it just sucked having to match up 226 opposite vertices and enter their numbers manually into a .csv file. Took me two nights.

Blu-rays aren't cheap and each disc took me an hour to burn and verify, but it's safer than using another portable hard drive because they're not vulnerable to any disruptions that magnetic media can be affected by and don't have moving parts that can break down. My whole collection took up 9 BD-Rs btw, although the last disc was only 90% full.

I know this is after the fact, as you already have the discs and are almost done burning them, but I would have suggested an external SSD. They work great and are super fast. If you had to, you could get one that is meant to be an internal drive, and get an external drive enclosure. From what I have seen and experienced, they have a very small fail rate.

Thought about one but discs are cheap and I'll be using them to back up a lot of other things too. I like the permanence of not accidentally deleting anything on them.

For models that use a built-in effect (for example to apply texture mapping), is there anything in the .fx file that can be changed to not mess with transparency? Material morphs that make things invisible are rendered partially or completely ineffective. These are the same model, with the same morph applied; left one has the texture mapping .fx on, the right one does not.

I would love to know too. This happened when I tried to use Green Shadier or Excellent Shadow.

don't know about model built in shaders, but regular shaders reveal hidden materials in some subsets like depthmap or screenshadowmap. just untick subsets of the same material to find whats the cause

that's the extent of my "reading" as I don't actually know Chinese and I'm not going to punch in every single symbol via alphabet into google translate.
also as a warning the distribution looks flighty, so there might be no password atm.
