That scenery looks well done for "no experience" in doing it (the trees and stuff in the background that is!)

Oh my, it's been a while~! But I have an update that has probably already been seen, but I thought it'd be nice to go ahead and put it back up here, where it belongs. Recently I was skimming over threads in here like a good little lurker and noticed a request for a little baby mithra. I decided it's been a while since I've really sat down on something and it'd be a good change of pace and style, not to mention content, so after a night of drawing, I came up with a response!

And, after my fashion, I'm going to show the picture in stages of progress. Why? Because I feel like every stage of art has a certain charm to it. Rough sketches carry a different appeal than finished linework, crisp black-and-whites carry a different feel than colors. So, more to the point, the sketch!

I feel like I'm getting a bit better at laying out the foundations of something kinda resembling an anatomy structure in my sketchwork. There're still a lot of areas where I have to kinda wing it a bit (or a lot, even), but overall I'm starting to get at least a bit more comfortable drawing bodies.

Unusually-thin lines, for me, but I've begun to really notice just how thin a lot of lines are in most colored work that I see. Compared to most of that, these lines are still really thick! Still, doing it this way looks really neat compared to some inks I've done in the past. How Do people get lines that thin, anyways...?

Finally, the end result.

Watercolors are fun! I'm new to the brush, but I really like the soft feel that it gives, in contrast with other brushes I've used before. Some of the blending was a bit funny to work out, but I think I managed okay overall.

I don't know exactly how long this piece took, but I got it done over the course of one night, which is a lot faster than I normally go, so I'm pretty proud of myself. Comments and critiques welcome, as always!

Also, as a super-bonus for anyone with OpenCanvas 1.1, the 'replay' of the piece, to show the process in more detail! This is probably my favorite feature of OpenCanvas. For best results, turn on 'Event playing with weight' to play it back at normal speed! I put it in a .zip because .wpe files aren't valid files for upload here.

All I'm seeing is red Xs.

Also, what do I need to open a WPE?

Ah, sorry, some funniness happened when I attached everything to the post and as a result the original links might've gotten lost. I think I've fixed them.

You use OpenCanvas itself to play .wpe files, which is why I said it was a special treat for OC users. It's a small program and it beats MS Paint, if you can't get a hold of photoshop.

This version's been (mostly) translated into english.
