Default Mob Dat Swapper

THIS NO LONGER WORKS IN 2.0

So this is a application I made donkeys ago, back at release originally to view the mobs in game. But due a few people asking me if I can finish it off to allow more I have decided to done so. My initial stall was not understanding the file system XIV uses (as we know XI was just 1 file for most things, XIV uses split files for all different things).

I have now figured out how almost everything works in the file systems and been able to manually replicate full skeleton/model swaps and the such.

I've updated the mob list, fixed some various bugs and it now supports magic swaps. By default it will snap to Cure 1 from conjurer spell (was easy to find haha). You can switch anything to this. (Note this is the visual affect animation, your character wont do anything, except on raise animation).

I've attached some screenshot of the app as well as the types of results it can do. Armour/Weapon is still in development as it isn't just a simple file or folder swap, due to texture colours and texture types it uses a "version" system and some will turn up plain white. I will explain more on this later though.

Please back up your stuff first, I recommend backing up the entire folder of:
<Programs Location>\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV\client


This application deletes and replaces files to achieve its results, don't rely on auto-back ups, but you can find backup folder where datchanger is.

So very simple to use:
Monster Swap - Default copper coblyn
  1. Select the mob on the left you want replace.
  2. Click "Set <mobname> as replacement.
  3. Click another mob and click "Replace"
  4. You've now replaced the mob from step 2. You can keep repeating step 3

Some things to remember: The mob is not going to switch straight away because once a mob is loaded it is in your memory until not needed (eg out of sight) so run a bit until the mob you've chosen changes (goes out of view). Some mobs will not display properly due to "version" being incorrect, read further down for more on this.

Animation Swap - Default cure 1
  1. Select Animation from left menu that you want to see (sorry no list yet)
  2. Select the animation on the right to replace
  3. click Lock Animation (to avoid backup conflictions)
  4. now hit Replace and do the skill
  5. Select another and hit replace, repeat skill, etc. This will change everytime you do the skill

Some seem to not work, most likely cutscene stuff only. I've left the folder name in the list which is abbreviated but im sure you can guess them lol "wsc" = weapon skill, "mgc" = magic etc.

So Enjoy! I will be developing it more soon (I have exams right now its difficult)

Also Once I've got Armour/Weapons sorted I will throw up the source code (though if you're desperate all the code does is backup and copy/delete files lol its nothing fancy =D)


Versions:
In XI whenever there was a piece of armour or mob with another texture but still the same model they used to just recreate the entire file again, causing duplicate files and the such. In XI they do not do this, everything has a single (or a few) models, which are then plastered with textures. For example the default naked gear has 24 different textures or "versions" as I call them (because its not always textures). Now its very hard to know what version you are on without a lot of messing about.

If you take beast men for example there is 3-4 different types, thus if you replace a mob that only has 1 version and is loaded with "0000" and the beast man's "0000" is a fake or not working, your replace wont work, it'll just look silly in game. The only way round is to increment the version and thus I've not yet got around to programming this yet.

Very nice, I'm sure someone will get a chance to play with it though at least before retail. Speaking of retail wish mine came early like it did for some people... some people already got it even

You chosen the wrong folder, you need to select the FFXIV folder.

hmm did you select wrong folder first then try again and it not work?

I cant recreate the same issue you're getting, if it detects the folder?

Delete the file aid.ini and retry. if still not working go into aid.ini and enter in your path next to: XIV_LOCATION=

for example mine is:

XIV_LOCATION=C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version

Since you mentioned you will be making a gear and weapon swap which is just awesome!! could you possibly make a race/face/feature changer?

I could try, the problem is all armors/weapons etc for 1 race is tied into that races folder, so if you wanted to use say Mithra over Hume Male, you'd have to copy every single mithra file over the hume male.

This would take a very long time to copy.

I figured as much, and If I would change the .dats not only would my char. change to another race but so would everyone else, I'm not sure if you've seen wardrobe for FFXI but it could change your character and everything on it and the changes were only on your specific character.

All i know is what was posted in some of the changelogs

Yeh I saw that and the same can be done its just finding that out, its the more harder solution with better results if you get me.

I will try work out how its done in release, its probably just a memory slot designated with loading a specific id table for a specific race. When change it'd just change yours because other players have their own memory slots.

Doing this would also be a lot faster and would run the risk of losing data.

I've updated the original post with a new version. Sometime soon I will post one with Weapons/Armor dat changing but right now its still very loose.

Any problems please let me know.

Sidenote: You do not need to zone for mob to reload its new files, just run far enough so the mob is no longer in the map, when you run back it will show up as the new mob.

It would be awesome if we could get a DAT swapper for Armor and Weapons...~

I need that enabled so I can do some cutscenes with certain types of equipment. :3

Equipments use a data grid table to apply colours and specific sets of gear (with alphas) so its very complicated and I haven't had time to do it, nore really know how.

Unlike mobs which work identical to XI in which they're static and never change.

Some weapons swaps.

I may have figured this out, so I am going to implement it soon, it wont look like mob swap, it will be 2 drop down lists , on left NEW on right REPLACE

And that is it.

Also to prevent fuck ups a list will be mandatory (unlike mob where it loads folders even if not in list)

this is because I will be doing some version experiments without editing table files.

And im sure you recognize this one XD Sadly it doesnt hostler very good when replacing a wand, would be ofc better if it replaced a sword. Amma try that!

I was flipping through and one of these swords Animates lol when its holstered the base separate is fold in, and when you go active it folds out, pretty neat.

Did somegear swaps too, its a little tricky, especially trying to find your own gear, using NA Model Viewer helps but I still cant find vintage robe.

I've figured out how to swap all abilities/skills/magics. Infact its the easiest to do and theres TONS.

EDIT: Uploaded some random spells, there is tons but I frapped loads so I'm going to get them on youtube (or download the new app and try it out yourself!)

oh wow... their hiding some cool stuff in there O_o

your mod says mgc 1010 is cure 1, but there is no mgc 1010 :P


its not any of the variations of 1 and 0's apparently...? O_o

Just noticed its a typo lol (was like 4am when i finished it)

cure is 0101 not 1010 ><

Messing with some versions of mobs n found another version of the coeurl, a darker version with white skin

In latest update some spells seem to not be working, i am not sure why this is happening. I will be looking into it.

How to change yourself to a mob (example Imperial Guard)

copy the whole of folder c008 and paste it to your desktop >.> thats a backup!

1 will be imperial guy
2 will be you!

In 2 go to folder equ/e001/
Delete everything inside it
Go back then to act/
Delete folder "swd_sld"
Go back
Delete skl

in explorer 1 copy all 3 folders
paste in explorer 2
overwrite everything

equip sword + shield and get naked (remove accessories as they'll look silly

Now depending on your naked gear the texture might not load and you'll be shiney and white

so in explorer 2 go to equ/e001/top_tex2

copy the file 0000 about 3 times and rename them incrementally, eg:
0001
0002
0003

Change any piece of gear in game to see affects

Rename the folder "kao" to remove your head (mobs have head attach via gear)

IF YOU WANT TO REMOVE SHIELD:

in explorer 2 go to folder act/
delete swd_emp
copy+paste swd_sld
rename swd_sld copy to swd_emp

The reason you have to delete full sets of files is because if you dont it will
try load them and mess up because the skeleton wont be using them.
