I have a (probably stupid) question about the MV and mobs. I posted in Viion's thread quite some time ago but had to break from the game, now that I'm back still no response :x

I want to use his Mod Swapper program to swap out all the diremites and baby mites for anything else really, whatever will match them version-wise (that horrid dungeon boss too if I can). For some reason the mob swapper isn't listing the mob names like in Viion's screenshots, only the "m001" names. I tried redownloading the whole thing and updating the moblist.txtx but the file is always blank, so not sure what's going on there.

ANYway... I was just wondering if I can use the MV to find the corresponding mob numbers and then use the swapper to switch them out as normal?

Both I and my fiance will be grateful for any help, as he won't have to run me through the underground areas anymore :x

I figured out a way to get model and texture data from the viewer into a malleable format, for porting FFXIV stuff into other games and whatnot using the modelviewer and 3D Ripper DX. Problem i'm having though is when I use the method that means copying over the male hyur equipment files with the Miqo'te ones, some of them cause the modelviewer to crash when I try to view them in the 3D preview screen. Namely:

1
2
5
7
8
10

Those ones. I can't figure out what's causing the issue and i'd like to know so I can keep going with my project

Currently I don't think its possible due to different file nameing extensions.
If you know of where to find said files, for the "modders in the modding section" to take a look at it, they may be able to devise something

I have them on my PC, but if I shared them I'd be violating NDA or whatever

here i a .dat0 and a .index
http://ge.tt/6jOu8US/v/0

they of same file, index is a pointer, .dat0 is a file.

It seems the files are likely to be listed by contents type, one for sounds, one for csv, one for textures, one for ui and so on.

Not yet figured out encryption but not had a lot of time, SE usually use blowfish but things could have changed, this type of file structure is very different than what SE usually do.

Yup, that's them. I can't wait until someone figures out how to decode these so we can get some textures.

very nice script.. are you planning to continue working on this? personally I think the 1.0 models are much better than 2.0... is there a way to convert the bone from geom to "bone" object in 3dmax?

anyway here's a nice little export to vrml from this script

I tried the one supposedly updated recently, thinking it was going to work for ARR but it didn't.

I saw something about ARR on the site BB and thought that meant it would work.

haha yeah they are working on it, but it hasn't been updated for ARR, its under testing and we probably won't see anything till NDA lift or even retail... or even some time in retail.

You have to consider, that his site has some popularity, and if he releases a program that can dig through FFXIV, thats potential NDA breaking and could be trouble for him :P

Has anyone posted a program to help for dat mining? I remember a japanese site had a few listed for 1.0 to help search for new things added each patch.

It is not that hard to parse those data if you're familiar with this kind of work, it is even straightforward right now for FFXIV: ARR once you get past the first few steps.

Anyway, things can change before release so I'm not sure it would be that usefull anyway. IIRC, for FFXIV v1, they added *scrambling* to the xml files, that were used for parsing data, around mid-beta.

So, it's safer to wait release I guess ;D
