net neutrality's defeat has lead to this very exciting moment (for big companies wanting to make more off you!)

Pay for specific services...!
Facebook on your phone for $5.00 a month, twitter for another $5.00 a month, and more, just pileup on them "special services".
Can't you get those ''special services'' as free apps for android and apple products? They ought to put some regulations on the ISPs and cellphone distributions now. Maybe change it a bit for ''pay for speed'' instead of ''pay for data''.

That is "pay for speed" technically. Or should I say uncapped/not bottlenecked/throttled by your ISP "speed" to that service.

I'm sure the other big companies just wet their pants seeing as someone started it.

I'm in Canada. The ISPs literrally have no restriction to what they can charge. In fact, they still offer services worthy of 1998 when we are in 2014, the age of the net. None of the canadian ISP offer unccaped unlimited internet (the unlimited they speak of is limited to 60 go of download, with all the speed they can provide you, is that really unlimited?).

2TB SSD's hopefully by christmas!?

http://www.marvell.com/company/news/...releaseID=5536

marvell, one the bigger SSD controller chip makers has stepped it up to 2TB, hopefully there will be several competitors in the 2TB SSD consumer level range to drive prices down.

Oh you. It sounds like it only works if there's a 3D model, so you'd need a model (MMD, anyone?) of what you want to "manipulate" first.

Windows 9 to remove the charms bar, but more importantly, a public beta will be out this fall! I won't be testing it myself, but hopefully get to see some screenshots/videos of it in use and not so herp derp like Windows 8.

I don't know why they are so keen on making monumental changes to things without considering how it affects the overall utility of the OS for users. Windows 8 wouldn't have flunked so hard if they would have had certain options built in from the get go instead of making it with touch screen swiping in mind. Seems to be that every other OS they have this happen because they either make changes that make the OS complete shit performance wise, or so entirely different it creates a learning curve for users to even adapt to it.

I don't know what their QA phases are, but I'm starting to think they either don't have large enough ones, or they aren't long enough to get proper feedback on due to the frequency of "poor builds" they have.

I've not seen so much of that with say, Shaw or Rogers, but Bell is notorious for using archaic internet plans. here in northwest ontario where there isnt much infrastructure (or so they think, there are several providers and wide coverage of where it is needed) they still try to sell you 20gb monthly for 60 dollars and "high speed" connections, with a dollar for every GB you go over. needless to say, when my household switched and we had a rather hefty bill we told them to fuck off and give us uncapped or we're switching back to our old, slightly slower but unlimited provider.

its nice to have a little bit of competition, even if it is rogers.

If I had to extrapolate, I would assume that it is an extreme example of Intel's Tick-Tock design model. First they throw out some outlandish OS with all these frightening, but interesting ideas. Then the next OS incorporates the successful ideas from the previous OS in a more conventional package.

EDIT: Mymymy, I've posted more in this thread than I have in the last few years combined. Kudos Gulkeeva

Found a subject of interest maybe!? :P

Speaking of interest...

Leaked? Table of future Nvidia GPU's

Looks like I will be waiting for the end of 2014 GPU's which are probably the titan class of Nvidia 800 series.

A USB cable you can plug in upside down or right-side up and it works! No more mystery or trying to jam it in until it works.

I'm rather curious how they managed to attain such a huge leap in power efficiency. Granted the purpose of those cards is extremely narrow, but it is a remarkable trend if this pans out to consumer grade gaming cards.

http://techreport.com/news/26919/fre...ling-next-year

Freesync monitors coming in 2015, although I wonder how it will even compete with displayport 1.2a/1.3 which is coming out at the same time.

They pretty much do the same thing, but supposedly freesync just requires a $10-20ish monitor adjustment, where as DP 1.2a/1.3 may require a new cable and hardware that could add an extra...! who knows!
