Default Creeping asshats

So, it would seem some creeping asshat, that got jilted on one of the RP/ERP servers has apparently taken inappropriate screenshots of someones character while they were potentially afk, and posted them to social media. This has now started a firestorm that has more or less snowballed out of control regarding mods & modders. Which is inevitably going to get SE's attention, and something is going to end up being done about it all because some jerk off can't take no for an answer.

I can't over state this. NO MEANS NO!!! If your advances are unwanted, respect the other persons decision. Don't take the equivalent of a revenge porn screenshot, and post it all over the internet with zero regard for who it effects, because your stupidity is going to ruin it for everyone else that is enjoying it themselves.

I tried to take a look around to see what you are talking about and not really turning anything up. I don't want to draw more attention to it so I wont ask for a link or anything.

I do think that that more in the public eye the mods get the more likely square will do something about it though. I've no doubt they know about the mods but turn a blind eye because this sort of thing will happen in popular games with good characters. If their hand is forced by the public shame machine that is being politically correct then I can see this doomsday scenario happening and losing all the lewds. It's easy for certain people to jump on a bandwagon to condemn sexual things in the United States so it would not surprise me to see SE try to stomp out our lewd times.

I don't really think this is anyone's fault, just natural progression of growing the mod scene and providing easier and centralized avenues to get the mods. I hope we don't lose them the lewds have been amazing. Just wish people could chill and control themselves. Getting laid in an MMO is easy, no reason to flip out and get vindictive.

Rip my cute subs.

Considering the creep posted pics of "his modded game". It has more or less a chance of himself getting banned more like it if they find out who he is.

Yes, I do honestly hope this blows over, and fades quietly into the night with minimal repercussions had. But if the mass as a whole demonizes modding to the point where SE turns it into a witch hunt, those that keep to themselves with it will unfortunately feel the heat from the torches, and the points of the pitchforks.

Again we can hope that's the case, but we all know the power of social media, and how it can cause things to snowball out of control. Cambridge Analytica comes to mind. How many people dropped FB because of that?

SE won't hesitate to take the necessary actions needed to keep the core of the gaming community safe, i.e. the needs of the many out way the needs of the few or the one.

If there is a big enough stink raised over this, it won't matter that one guy took an inappropriate screenshot, we'll all feel the brunt of it, if SE deems it.

All we can do is hope that this falls into enough of a gray area, that SE can only shrug, and go "ESRB" can't monitor in game interactions. But people on social media are crying foul about harassment atm. Now we all know that SE knows there is a modding community, and they know it is a big part of the game for many players, and as long as you're not doing anything to negatively impact the environment they largely ignore it. But the moment the ToS is dragged into the spotlight because of something like this, their hand will be forced, and something will get done.

The way I see it, while mods are ~technically~ breaching the ToS (as is using ACT to parse stuff), it's also not at the same time, because A) its undetectable (as far as I know), B) It's client sided, and C) doesn't really offer unfair advantages in any shape or form (Although the parser CAN be considered an unfair advantage for PC players but this thread isn't about that) so even if SE does try to retaliate, the worst case scenario I see is that guy getting himself banned, but it won't even be because of the mod. It'll be because of harassment/bullying more than anything

I gotta be honest... I'm not surprised. In this weird age of PC, and overly senstive "I'm offended worship me!!" culture, on top of shitposters/edgelords/ect, its really not surprising that people would find a reason to get up-in-arms over nude mods and use the Victim Complex to try and "get it dealt with" I'm sensitive to it somewhat, but not to such a degree that I want to cry harassment or w/e. It irks me that the futa mod exists, it makes glamouring naked awkward for me... but it doesn't STOP me from doing it, and I can't control what they see... so I just ignore it, or at least... do my best to. Hopefully these people will grow up someday. ...someday.

Edit: I really need to clarify more sometimes, I don't hate the futa mod itself mind you, but it does make me feel uncomfy at times, but as I said, its something I try to ignore. I'm glad its there for people that like futa/shemale/ect but I guess the reason it bugs me, is because of HOW I found out about it.

When Balmung was actually unlocked (for all of... 3 days?) we had a flood of new players, and... it was also arouind the time that the futa mod came out. I like glamouring naked, that's not really a secret, and as such I got accused of being a futa 5-7 times... in ONE DAY. It was... overwhelming, so I do have a slight bias against it because of that. I can't control what they see though, so t here's nothing I can do about it

To me this is the equivalent of trying to tell people that stealing is wrong. I don't think whoever did it would act otherwise or have the self awareness to even make use of this post. They should just be disregarded and blocked because it seems like the community will make a black sheep out of them anyway. There isn't much of a voice in support of this, mine included.

Yes, I actually conquer, at the end of the day, I honestly don't care if said person becomes a social pariah in their community.

It had more to do with a negative light being shone on the modding community itself.

I realize now, my initial post was somewhat of an alarmist thing to do, and I should have better educated myself on the matter.

Though SE ultimately has the capability to address any potential issues they may see with modding, the truth of the matter is they won't, because it boils down to simple mathematics. Do something to disrupt that, and they risk people suspending their subs. Simply put, Say 100k people playing said game, mods (I'm certain sure it's a much larger number than that) Those 100k players average almost $300 dollars a year for their sub if you take every service offered into account. i.e. retainers ect. Well that right there is $30 mil give or take. Which is probably pretty close to Yoshi-P's salary. And since no company in the history of ever, has had a meeting regarding something that would potentially effect their bottom line, say like placating a handful of people that want to demonize something such as modding would, There's no way they could in good conscious stand before their superiors, and say it to the effect of keeping a straight face. If they did, they'd likely be fired on the spot.

So again, could SE do something about modding? Yea, I'm sure they can, but the math says they won't.

With that said, I do apologize for my initial post.

I wouldn't even say the first post is something to apologize about. It at least showed more, if it wasn't already a little obvious depending on your social circles, that the original offense isn't all too much viewed in favor.
