Very nice. Again, envy your anatomy.

It's nice you had help with your "problem areas". I don't know why, but I'm just completely unable to ask for help even though I want to sometimes(not just with my art). I kind of had hopes that I'd get some with my blog, but it didn't work out that way. But that's not the topic.

I do agree with Bloodrose a bit on the sketch vs color thing. A lot of my drawings I tend to like more before I "finish" them as they loose a lot of the detail. Just can't seem to keep some of it, but maybe that's just lack of ability in coloring on my part. Not to say your colored pictures couldn't be just as great or better. Color doesn't always equal better, though.

Asking for help is really difficult sometimes, so I totally understand. But in this instance I realized I needed it. Trying to teach myself all of this is leading me to hit blocks every once and awhile that I can't get past without outside perspective. For his part, Gustaf was very helpful. I hope he won't blame me if everyone starts spamming his inbox. :)

Again, I agree here, but only partially. In the past when I've tried to (seriously) color things, it has really seemed to take away from the picture, rather than add to it.

But I don't think that's necessarily because the pictures I was working with looked better without color, but because I hadn't found a style of coloring that meshed well with me (and I was too inexperienced).

Though it is a bumpy road, color is - I think - a cornerstone of artwork in general that should to be conquered. Though it pains me to admit it, a picture with color and crappy line art will garner more attention than a picture with expert line art and no color. So, this time around, I am going to try to start very simple.

Edit: Deleted all the emo crap. I should just damn it all and let the pictures stand on their own.

Pictures:
(did I mention +18?)

So there's two versions.

First has some (shitty) disembodied hands to give context to what is happening. The second picture does not (so you can see "unobstructed").

If people actually like these, I might go back and add a genuine background.

And here's the Sans-Hands version:

I've got some other drawings in the works that are closer to my old style which I might post eventually. Maybe.

I think they're quite good honestly. I don't know that I'd go so far as to say gravity defying either, the way her back appears to be arched could lend itself to the positioning of said breasts. It's a solid piece, either way.

Man, someone gave this thread 5 stars. Now I've got to do something special.

And I was so content with being lazy!

Holy shit son, is that color?!

(Also: +18 warning)

Oh shit incorporeal hands!!!!
Version without hands: Here

Anyway, today (the 19th) marks my 1 year anniversary since I seriously started working on my drawing (also since I posted my first fan art here), so I couldn't really let myself get away with not posting anything. It's pretty sloppy, and brutally simple, but it is what it is. Here is to hoping I will improve as much in the next year as I have this one.

Have a good one.

I'd have to say that the colored model looks pretty intense, yet nice and laughable because of the situation the poor mithra is in due to the flying disembodied hands. could be highly entertaining in a pseudo-horror story path... say she was being attacked by those disemdobied ghosts in Gusgen Mines.

Definetly worth 5 Stars

I actually added in the hands at the last minute because I realized that the whole... circumstance of the picture looked mighty awkward without something that indicated what the hell was going on.

At that point even I didn't know what the hell was going on.

If I start drawing, I usually don't go in with a set goal. I just draw what comes to me. And if it starts looking OK, I don't stop to think about what I'm actually drawing because that might ruin "the feeling." This means most of what I draw (99% of which I don't post) has near-zero context explaining it.

The "hands" were sort of my last-minute answer to what I could add to the picture to give it some kind of context. You can make of them (or the lack thereof) whatever you want.

I've got a really bad habit of going over again pictures I upload online way more than I should, instead of working on new drawings. But it helps me find problems and critically think about where I need to improve, so I don't think it's a habit I'm going to shake anytime soon.

Anyway. I uploaded a new version of my last picture to the first post that was sufficiently different I felt like making a post about it. I also made a gif to highlight what's different.
