has modding for XI died?
![]() I see lots of new things in-game, but no one posting about mods (18+ or even non 18+)for those. Trusts, new armors, new NPCs. I don't have the skills or I'd try my hand at it. Anyone still up to stepping up to the plate again? ![]() |

May be time before people make mods of the new stuff, people tend to like to enjoy new stuff before changing it up :P

From everything I've been seeing even Tera and PSO2 isn't being modded.
Only one 18+ mod for PSO2 that I know of, and it requires a special body gear that is really hard to get/expensive, and I haven't seen any new mods for Tera in a long time. That's why I'm asking, cause it seems that DOA5 and FO4 are the only things being modded these days. Oh, and FFXI isn't dead ... maybe fewer people now, but not dead when I can see 20-30 ppl running around Bastok Mines at 3am CST. |

I'm still disappointed no one ever made a Tifa costume. Who do I have to commission for this?

What kind of Tifa outfit, and what race? There were some made, for mithra at least. One was an Advent Children mod, the other a FF7 mod based off of Lion's in game outfit.
I should still have the mithra ones, but I don't remember if there was any made for other races (or if I have them) |

There used to be a JP site similar to this one-- Tunachibang? Toonachibang? Something like that.
I was able to locate the site a few months ago. It was a website similar to this one, with a plethora of FFXI DAT mods. The site went down some time ago. So, due to that site going down, we're missing quite a few DAT mods. |

I am seeing new stuff for FF11, but its rare. Like JeanPaul on FFXIAH has some dat edits he did recently. Though, those are more zone/icon edits.
I myself really want to get into ff11 mesh modding, but its a real pain in the ass. Current VRS is paid only, and the options seem a bit limitied. I was able to use model viewer to extract the models into metasequoia, and reimport them back to model viewer. The biggest issue I'm running into is the verts exploding everywhere after I'm reimporting. I'm assuming its because the armor lost its bone rigging. I did even try exporting the entire body (skeleton) included, and slapping an armor on top of it prior to exporting. Sadly the same issue occurred. This is probably due my limited knowledge of metasequoia. I'm debating about getting the plugin of that file type for 3ds to try to see what I can and cannot do lol. Another prob I'm assuming is knowing the "exact" steps to take in all of this. I used to have a pretty solid system for how I did Skyrim mods, and if I went outside of that...stuff tended not to work :D Normally it was like Import > convert to editable poly (some people liked to not do this..fuck that..) > select all verts weld 0.001 > edit stuff > add smoothing mod > add bsdismemberingskin instance > make sure shit was in the proper order > export with the proper options selected. I did gain alot of respect for the past ff11 modders. Mod users see a limited portion of the "real" work these modders do. I read for instance, that you cannot edit the vert count on meshes you wish to reimport into the game. (this is VERY typical in alot of games, like dragon age inquisition :D). But modders like Alikona, found a way around this by breaking up one mesh into multiple pieces (yet keeping the same vert count). Seriously if this wasn't the case I'd edit the vanilla body to use the HD mesh of the races that SE teases us with in the game files...(only seen the fuckin character creation). I'm probably sure people are like...what hd mesh? This one: https://youtu.be/sPhxI1mKcAQ Really all I want to do is make sexy versions of all the new armors in the game :D Last edited by Silvist; 04-28-2017 at 05:09 AM. |
