In July they changed Github logins so you have to confirm the device you're logging in on by entering a code from an email they send you. But if you used a throwaway email to set the account up, there's no way to receive the code. The only way to get around it is to enable two-factor authentication which means giving Micro$oft your phone #--and in order to do that you have to be able to log in first anyway. It didn't affect me until now because I hadn't cleared my cookies since before the change, but when I did it deleted my login cookie for Github and I got the "enter the code we sent you that you can't retrieve" message the next time I tried to log in.

I googled it and there's no way around it. There's some people who've absolutely lit them up in their help forums over loss of their accounts and their response has been basically "We're very sorry you lost your account but we're not changing it back, tough shit." This is ostensibly to protect people from alleged (and I quote) "widespread account theft". On Github. Right. Bullshit, it's so Micro$oft can get your phone # and sell it to advertisers.

you could try making another spoof email and create a twitter account with it. every time bowl roll gives me the boot, I use twitter for authorization, which is just a simple click. I think the requirement is that you're logged in into twitter and that bitch won't let go of you even if you haven't done a single post/follow.

From what I remember almost all of those Oshiro Project models have their passwords as either the name of their special skills or some phrase they say and the wiki has all of them. Here's a link to the list of characters:

What I usually do in this type of situation is to first ctrl+F the kanji of a character's name, get to her page, and then start ctrl+F-ing text from the hint page into the character's page to see if anything matches to it. It sometimes takes a while but it almost always works eventually.

In fact, I'm going to throw some wiki links in the misc. links thread.

Also, guess what I'm finally back to working on:

A lot of people have been asking for Anastasia so she's going to be first even though I don't particularly care about her. The issue I'm finding in porting over gamerip hair to these models is that they were made with baked-in shading and didn't use toons in the game so some normals are going to have to be fixed manually to stop shadows from appearing where they shouldn't. Also I need to redo her hair color, my old attempt was crap. Also the game faces are much narrower than the Kurauchi faces so I'll have to adjust some locks manually that clip into the skin. Also the rigging is VERY basic but it was just a mobile game after all :\

I'll get her done, then get Uzuki done, then get to the girls I actually WANT to work on.

Anastasia is a Russian princess and is best girl!* Not big surprise.

*Not really, but that's what he says in the video.

So, matching game-ripped hair to the Kurauchi models' faces is a successful experiment. The hair's a little low-poly compared to the faces, but it looks good enough. I had to do all the physics and most of the weighting for her hair manually and that was the biggest time sink. I also completely redid her eye texture from my first attempt, made a new hair sphere, UV-mapped the bangs and sampled the colors from her in-game texture to get her skin game-perfect in color as well as matching her bikini to her image color. There are still a few locks of hair that don't move and that's because they're just too close to her face and would clip if they moved at all. I've also reverted her breast physics back to the Kurauchi physics because most people didn't like the Arrowhead ones.

Now I have to do this 40 more times and most of those I'm also going to have to make the faces for too...

I'm pretty sure this is torture at this point, given how little anyone cares. have you considered working on other models? if nothing else just to stare into a different combination of vertices or a higher number of them?

I do, and have done so. It's just that most of those I can't redistribute or aren't in any condition to be distributed. And I don't want to forget how I do these so that when I come back to them later I know what I need to do and don't have to figure it all out from scratch again. The last time I actually did an Idolmaster model was a year and a half ago, and I *do* use these myself too.

Edit: Making good progress on Uzuki. Her hair is much better rigged than Anastasia's was so I hardly had to do any weight painting. So far I've:
-Redone her skin texture to be game-accurate
-Did a whole new eye texture
-Did a whole new hair sphere and texture
-UV-mapped her bow
-Made some judicious use of the High-Poly plugin to smooth out her bow and parts of her hair

I just need to UV map her bangs and add physics and she'll be ready for a body. I wonder if that guy who asked for her like two years ago is still around...

So Uzuki's UV mapping on her bangs turned out to be a complete clusterfuck and then Photoshop kept shitting its pants and crashing for no reason while I was trying to make her textures until I did a computer restart. But she's done.

...I'm going to sleep.

Finished Tsukasa and Takumi. Tsukasa doesn't have an image color so I used the color of a bikini she was wearing in one of her cards.
