Default Recommendations

Been wanting to watch more anime, but I dunno what all is out there, I usually just come across things here and there that look interesting and watch them, but not too often. Wondering if anyone could recommend some anime series to watch. As odd as it may seem, I've wanted to cry lately, so I wanted to find something sad, and posted about that on another forum. They recommended Saikano, which I watched, though it didn't really do much for me...

Well anyways, sad would be good for me, but I'm into anything really, action, fantasy, comedy, drama (I <3 drama, sue me >.>), etc... so any suggestions would be appreciated ^^;

kanon 2006 is sad. unfortunately i can't make many recommendations regarding sad. i can't be bothered to watch it but once every 8 years or so.

Some recommendations I can make are

Ai Yori Aoshi
Shuffle!
Fate/Stay Night (good balance of action and drama)
Hitohira (if you can stand having one episode come out per like, month)
Sola (still somewhat new, but turning out nice all the same)

There may be a few more in my collection that Im forgetting, so Ill update later if I remember. And I have to agree, Kanon 2006 was VERY good, and I enjoyed it a lot. I cried like hell when I watched it (wouldnt leave my room for a few hours cause my eyes were bloodshot XD)

Edit: Cant believe I forgot the current one Im watching XD. Anyway, Canvas 2 is also quite good, but it gets aggrivating at times because the main male protagonist is an idiot.

Grave of the Fireflies

If you haven't seen that I highly recommend it. It should be sad for you too.

Although I would hate to see them make more and ruin it, considering the ending pretty much wrapped everything up. I just finished it yesterday and loved it so much...I watched it all in two days xD

No worries there, the original game had different story paths so one story wouldn't ruin another, but you will get deeper understandings of the other chars like, archer, rider, .....rider....and ummm..........rider. *huge rider fan btw*

Oh, right I recommend Bamboo Blade, Clannad, Shana and the Rozen Maiden series.[/quote]

If you want sad in a tragic sense, I'd recommend Elfen Lied. It's really gory (like, really gory) and action driven in the beginning but near the middle it starts to shift to a greater emphasis on the characters' psychologies. The ending is a real tear jerker in my opinion.

I just finished watching Golden boy, and I recommend it to anyone who wants a good laugh. Sadly it's only 6 episodes, but it's quite amusing.

edit: ding, page 2

Goldenboy somehow works to be a great motivator for studying and in general living... I also recommend it.

Finished Mahou Sensei Negima and well... im sure the manga is better but i guess i recommend it if you've got some time to kill.

It worked great for making me want to watch a girl getting off on a motorcycle >.>

I read the first negima manga and didn't take to it like i did love hina, is the anime actually pretty good? Or is it one of those "it's cute, and ok if you have nothing else to watch" sort of ordeals?
