Default .dat color change

Quick simple and to the point. I have found that when i copy and paste pieces from .dats to a new one, and enlarge it, sometimes it changes the color for example makes the mithra skin look orange. Anyone know a way to change the colors back to a more flesh like color?

Gimme an idea of what software package you're using, and I might be able to narrow this problem down for ya. I use photoshop, and almost never have a problem like this.

Um, just the standard paint from Windows, and then the GC3 program to make the .dat file work.

ooh, I feel you're pain. Um, my suggestion, is to learn a program like gimp or photoshop, or you can upload the file, and tell me what you want to achieve. Anyway in photoshop, all ya should hafta do is a color variation.

ok GC3 is the problem, when it converts back to a .dds file, the texture is slightly altered. i dont have a link, but it shouldnt be hard to find, there's a .dds plugin for photoshop. that way you can save the bmp directly to a dds & its unaltered no quality drop.

I think you'll find that through gimp, even if it is orange, or looks it, you can fix it easier with gimp. I might download gimp again and walk you through it if need be.

Ok sounds good. Gimp looks real easy to learn but will take a while to master. If you know any links with a good way to edit the colors or would just post how to do it It would make it a lot easier for me. Thanks again for the help.

Ok, I think I got a good handle on it, as you can see I havent perfected it yet, but I went from too much orange to a little less, I think I have the brightness on too high from the windower, it looks a lot better in game.

little walkthrough (pics included)

Gimp has it's hue/sat in kinda a wierd place and I'm not sure if you found it or not. Thought I'd put it here.

First picture should be familiar, its the center box that all you're editing is done.
Second is how you get to the third dialog.
Third is the actual sliders for color change.
Fourth is what this dialog does (example)
