I love your Old Comic style you have going on, where the joints are small, but muscle spots are prominant, it gives a strangely cool look to Art imo.

one piece of advice though, For woman, the Calf muscle are on the outside of the leg, not the inside like a guys ^_^ Just to let you know :3 keep up the good work, i love your stuff.

Last reply to this off topic comment. Women and Men have the same muscles in the calf. Men tending to be more muscular just makes it stand out more. Its not a skin factor, its the muscles that make up your body. Women and men have differences, but the calfs are not one of them. If im wrong then Kedema and a lot of other artists are wrong.
( Example: kedema work: http://blog-imgs-12.fc2.com/g/o/c/gochou/blg040c.jpg)
Ok im done XD.

I like your work. I got a question though...
Do you use pencil, or do you use a tablet? That sketch one looks penciled to me, but... How do you get your scanner to scan it so crisply? Any time i try to scan pencil, it turns out grainy, and has dots all over it, when the actual picture isn't anything like that.

1.-I'd usually scan at 600 DPI for a better resolution... save as jpg.
"now Photoshop Time..."
2.- first thing I do in photoshop is resize image to a smaller size, because they're all like 1200+ pixels after scanning, usually reduced to 400-575 x 800 pixels...
3,-DESATURATE go to Image-> Adjustments -> Desaturate, this will kill ALL color from the sketch leaving them as pure black...of course if it isnt inked it'll still look like penciled/grainy
4.- CONTRAST , go to Image-> Adjustments-> Brightness/Contrast, and move the little contrast button and it'll make your lines even darker...

and it should be ready to color from there...of course for better results I'd highly recomend you ink your pics by hand with Pigment Liners like Pigma Micron Pens or Staedtler, it'll give you a nice shinny black outine after Desaturate and Contrast steps...

Heh, sooooo to answer Lalana's question, when I sketched it I pressed the pencil hard to make lines as dark as possible, because I know Scanners sometimes wont even show some lines...(having in mind you didnt inked the pic) so yeah draw pressing hard against the paper AND use steps 3 and 4 on Photoshop also, and I don't scan anything lower than 600 dpi...

PS.Ive noticed Mechanical Pencils lines tend to be darker than a regular pencil I don't know what you use, a regular 2B pencil or a drawing pencil...but I use a Mechanical Pencil Zebra M-301 with 5.0 pencil leads.
I tried to be as specific as possible I hope this help you...

That's basically everything i already do. I ink the pics i plan to color, but I'm not talking about those. I'm talking about genuine pencil sketches, with pencil shading and everything. I can never get those types of pictures to come out right. My lines are plenty dark, and they all get picked up by my scanner, the problem rests primarily with the shading. It turns out dotty and grainy... I think a large part of it has to do with the texture of the paper, but i'm not sure. I know a lot of people scan pencil sketches without having this problem, that's why i'm asking if there's some trade secret behind it xD

When i say sketch i usually mean genuine sketches, completely pencil shaded and everything. Meant entirely to be left as a penciled pic. That's just the way i use the word usually.

Oh and i should add my drawing surface is really smooth, so it's not causing roughness to transfer over to the paper. I converted an old dry erase board into a drawing table years ago.

Edit:
http://neko-sentai.com/forum/viewtop...?p=82007#82007
If you go there, you can see what i mean. I uploaded the 2nd pic so that i can show you what i mean. It turns out grainy as heck. Like in the actual sketch on paper, there's no white grains. The shading also doesn't show up very well.
