Default Autodesk 3DS Max 9

I recently 'got my hands' on this program and it's apparently a very, very good tool for textures and stuff.

I would love to start working on toying with ffxi .dats using this program but I can't find a way to import them into the program. According to the information here the supported filetype stuff is as listed:

[quote]Supported Scene Import Formats

* 3DS, AI, DDF, DEM, DWG, DXF

You'd need a plugin to import Maya models into that program. I'm not sure if someone made a plugin yet for the newest version of 3DS, but I'm sure someone on the forums from the dat modding community would know.

Leading in the video game and industrial design industry.
And if anyone could for the love of God find out how to do this, I would love them forever.

Ok, found out how to get it in.

First step follow that KI/killvoid link and download the plugin thingy for 3ds max. Then put it in your plugins folder.

Then use the ffxi model viewer that everybody should have and "convert .dat to .mqo' or whatever.

Finally you get it in by starting up 3ds max and clicking "import" and you import the mqo file!

How I just need to find a way to export it...

edit: http://sio29.sakura.ne.jp/maxplg/maxplg.html

Top download link is the import plugin, and the one below it is the export plugin.

edit2: Of course, now that I can finally export it into mqo format I can't frieking turn the mqo back to a dat beacuse it doesn't have a .mcd file paired with it. FFS
