Default FFXI on PC annoyances...

I posted this on KI, but just so I can get some more help...

After playing around on FFXI with my new comp. I noticed 2 little annoyances that I was wondering if I could get some help with.

1. This one happens in sea, when I'm in the Palace/Garden the walls/floor are so friggin bright I can't see anything that good.

2. My computer can run FFXI on 1440x900 Overlay Graphics Resolution and 1024x1024 Background Resolution without my framerate suffering, however when I'm near NPCs/PCs my framerate just drops like hell. In Beseiged/Campaign/Near AH it's horrible. I'm pretty sure it is a resolution problem, however if anyone has an alternitive fix to it that's be great since I hate doing mix and matches in the FFXI config. Or if anyone knows a good setting where my graphics will be smooth and it'll up my framerate that'd be helpful also.

You could always decrease the amount of people that're "loaded" in your IG configs, but that may or may not work. It'll be a slight difference, but better most likely.

As for brightness, adjust ingame gamma settings or use the gamma settings from PC controles/monitor controls.

For the slowdown thing
the shadows on FFXi are super insane cpu itnensive, if you have detailed shadow it will choke your PC

Yeah, definitely keep shadows turned off if they are on. It cuts down on lag like crazy.

I can run fine with shadows at full, but I have to turn them off if I go to the AH, or besieged.

Yeah shadows is fine on like.. an exp group but, you walk into something with like 15+ its very veeerry cpu intensive, even the msot expensive cpu's would start slowing on it (since the shadows are basically.. all cpu powered)
