If you have Photoshop, Alpha channels become a lot easier if you use the polygon selection tool. In RGB mode, make a shape around what you will be alphaing out. Then switch to the alpha channel and that selection will still be highlighted. Make the selection pure black, save, and you're done!

lol my problem is finding the little spot thats doin it, if ya want an example load up the Hauberk without an alpha first, it should add 2 big slanted downard blocks by your legs, mithra hauberk btw. To remove those you have to remove a part of the original dat and it makes it look odd to me >.< its a small change and im currently using my new haub color but it still bugs me I couldnt avoid that;;

How does one load up a .dds file without an alpha channel? O_o

And another little trick I've found is that you can find where any polygon is located if you click the "UV" button and click "Select" in the UV Edit box. Make sure the "Object" and "Select" are active in the top left corner and make sure the correct object is selected in the object panel. Now you can click any polygon on the UV map and it will show you where the polygon is on the mesh.

Nifty.

Edit: Edited for clarity.

No need to be worried about meta Kren, Its a fairly easy program to use, and if you want yourmods to look nice, where you'll be spending most of you time.
