Default Lost Odyssey

Buy? Don't buy? Rent? Avoid like the bubonic plague?

I'm out of RPGs to play save WoW and a few PS2 ones and I got the room in my budget. Anyone given it a shot?

The only thing all the reviewers whine about is the "old fashioned" jRPG gameplay it's made of. So if you thought FF12's new gameplay was the shit and the older games aren't fun anymore, this is not for you. Otherwise, get this by all means. Remember, the creator is the father of the FF series himself, and it's basically a homage to the classic jRPG.

So basically if you love JRPGs, I still play Chrono Trigger, the older FFs, Persona 3, and more turn based RPGs, it's worth getting.

Yeah I learned a long time ago to not trust the "professional" reviews. When possible I try to contact PEOPLE who have played them since they have better ideas the 'It's to old school, where's my check?"

Not Seth?

And I dunno... I think one of my favorite things is I can hear them game in German. <3 hearing things in my home language. The actors are pretty good in English, German, and Japanese I noticed so far but I hate Italian and French so I haven't bothered listening to them and then again I just hit Numara though I wish they added more battle animations for fighting.

I also love the memories since, IMHO, they help you understand Kaim. It's pretty hard to live that long and experience so much and still care about all the stupid things we do... that we KEEP doing.

Honestly though, as I randomly think of this while playing Command and Conquer, I think we'll see /34/ of Cooke before we see any of Ming or Sarah... because the world is weird like that.

Just beat it. Expected more from the last boss but it went more 'story' wise instead of the usual ' beat the shit out of boss then watch credits'. Needs a prequel manga to explain their world more.

Just got to disc 4 on this game and as much as I love it... I can't help but wonder.

Why the hell is the game 4 discs? The graphics aren't "z0mgwtfbbq", the music isn't amazing (it's great... but not amazing. Eternal Sonata... now that was amazing), nothing here is "good" enough to warrant 4 discs. It's not expansive enough, there isn't enough to do or going on to span 4 discs. Hell each disc barely lasts 10 hours if that!

Don't get me wrong it's a great game... but this 4 disc thing for this little confuses me.

Ah well... at least the characters are one of the major kick ass factors. (<3 Sed)

But how the hell can this game be out this long and there be no hentai of it? :\

The cgi cutscenes. Same reason Blue Dragon is also on multiple discs. In Eternal Sonata all the cutscenes were done in the in-game engine.

Yup, the cutscenes are the main reason to put this game on 4 disks.
If you have a HD tv it's really a good watch.

As for the game itself, depends on taste.
If you like the old fassioned turn based RPG, and are looking for a game with a deep storyline and hidden secrets this is a good recommendation.

However as I said before it's all a matter of personal taste, if you have the option to rent it you might want to do that, even if it's only to judge if you find the game worth buying.

Honestly I felt this was one of the better games I've played in a long time, but then again Im a sucker for old RPGs.

One thing that did bother me a bit was that Sarah had far less story than anyone else imo :\ Especially among the immortals.

But I will agree, Gongora is a bit underwhelming, but its honestly not his fault ;p Whoever designed him didnt seem to know what they were aiming for. Or maybe they did and Sakaguchi is trying for a more realist villian? either way he had a terrible character design.

edit: run on sentence

However Gongora does a great job, for the most part, making you hate him which is how it should be.

Kefka did an amazing job at this too.

That gay guy in FF9 as well. (I don't remember his name.)

Yes he did, I just meant his character design.

Ultimately he came off as a great villain, plus they made up for it with his final boss design.

The new DLC last boss is a challenge if you do not know what you're doing. Here's an explanation http://youtube.com/watch?v=bwmIzVBT1ic it would of been better if I had looked up how to beat him in the begining but fuck annilation.
