Default Icky skin colors

I'm pretty new to modding, but I've been playing with textures.
I dunno why but every time I make a new skin or even resaving and reusing an old skin, it turns up to be slightly greener and icky looking. The more I do it, the worst it gets.
What causes this and how could I fix it?

Using Model Viewer 1.0.1 by Foyle
Using GraphicsConverter 3 v1.04
Using Photoshop 7

If there's a better methood please let me know I'd like to get more into this.

I think the problem may be using GC3, it's best to keep a backup of your texture file so you can fix up any color issuses that occur

.DDS is a compressed image format. Each time you resave, you lose quality. The more you save, the worse it gets. I've had to go through and "redo" a lot of mods because the images have been resampled so many times, the skin color looks like crap.

If this helps, I've attached plzhelp's .PSD for the nude hume F model, which is the 100% perfect version; then just use that if you need to modify anything, rather than resampling a preexisting .DDS.

ok so it's the resampling... but is there another program that can do the dds conversion without degrading the colors?
and I think the hume skin wasn't a nude model, but fishnets or something..
Also is there any way I could get the other nude skin sets elv and mith?
And just to add.. the first alteration from an original caused the discoloration, and not multiple alterations... Is this due to the GC conversion or is this due to some other variable such as bmp type.
BTW, thanks guys :)

Doing that is a kind of a big order to ask for from a program. It's like reducing a JPGs image saving it and re-opening that image and expecting to increase the image size without quality degrade.

Best thing is always keep a clean .bmp of the image and write the alpha map to it and save out as a new .dds. That way image quality doesn't degrade.

I think I figured out where the resampling starts to degrade it.
I found a PSD file from Sotai on Xoops, compared it to a bmp extracted from the DAT file.
The colors were noticably different.
The extraction is what causes the degredation, not the reconstruction.
Does anyone else have the Clean Versions of a Nude Mithra or Nude Elvaan?

Are there other programs that can extract textures other than model viewer?

I use ChangeTex for extracting textures, it's super fast and easy to do. You can find a link in the "Most stuff people look for like Model viewer" thread under FFXI Stuff.

Found the Elvaan female version. Still haven't come across a Mithra one, though.
