Default Dats! Dats! Dats!

Hihi! I just joined your lovely forum while looking for ideas, mods, and modders^^. I'm new to the modding world, but I have a few things done. I'll post them as time goes by (and i finish fixing all the bugs XD). As for right now, I'm looking mainly for help, advice, and some friendly chat. ^^

Now for the reason I put my "Hello everyone!" post in the request section....
I'm looking for a plugin for Paint Shop Pro so i can open and edit .dds files. As it stands, I have to open them in photoshop (I so despise adobe and it's resource hogging), save them in a different format, and open to my beloved PSP. Then after altering/creating my new texture, the reverse prossess begins. You might see where the irritating part is....

So if anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be much apriciated^^.

Thanks in advance for any good that may come of this, and I hope we will all have great times in the future^^

There is no way, Photoshop is the only way you can 100% edit the .DDS directly.

You can use GC3 to save the Alpha from the DDS and save the DDS as the BMP. Or just use the DAT to MQO from MV and save the Alpha Channel from the DDS and edit that BMP.

You can find various guides on .DAT modding over at ffxidats.com as well as Wenrick has some of the various programs covered with video tutorials in the modding section of this forum.

Can't really get much shorter the using Photoshop.. It's not that much of a resource hog for me.

Well it just takes so long to load, and for some reason everything adobe likes to lag out my system. Most of my mod time happens in between parties on FFXI anyway, so I'm already using a good portion of my systems resources. No worries though, I'll mannage ^^

Thanks again^^
