Default ok i feel stupid someone help plz ; ;

I got all the stuff for dat editing and all that from Gulks thread. But when i tried to edit just the colors of a DAT for my elvaan F5-A face the dat doesnt work! i used my model veiwer and made my chars face into a MQO and then i edited the texture of her face to make her more tan like a dark elvaan. i then use my model veiwer to convert it back and nothing happens! everything was saved correctly and it wont load. what am i doing wrong ; ; i tried again and for some reason the dat for her face went hay wire and polygons shot out everywhere ; ; I suck at this can anyone help me? i followed Gurmpy rarab';s guide and it still skrew up on me....

Yep. The .bmp file only effects what you see in Meta, not the actual .dat in game.

The .dds file is the one that appears in modelviewer and in game. I've never used that program, but hopefully when you Save As, there should be a .dds format.

Use Graphic Converter 3 to convert the .bmp you created into a .dds and make sure you use DXT3 format.

If you have photoshop, you can search nvidia for a dds plugin. Just make sure to flatten the image before you try to save it as a dds.

got the graphics convertor and followed the guide again. i edit the DDS and make it a BMP. i edited the BMP and saved it. then i opened it in graphic convertor then added the alpha channel as the guide told me. and yet the edges or her hair mess up as if the alpha channel wasnt there. Ive been working on this single fucking dat for hours now and i can not figure this out. i freaking give up on this shit

Why it's better to use AltanaView for a closer in-game image. It works better with the texturing and Alpha Mapping then ModelViewer does.

We're just glad that little episode is finally over. The first time is always the worst. After you figure out how to make it work, it becomes second nature. You've taken your first steps into a new world, and we welcome you with open arms. :D
