Default Music - "The Black Mages"

Does anyone listen to them, or like them?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Mages

^^ More info on them.

My personal favorites would have to be...
Maybe I'm a Lion
Darkness and Starlight
Zeromus
Battle With the Four Fiends
Matoya's Cave
Kurayaminokumo

The new Opera song from FF6 had a great idea, but I don't really care for the execution. There were a lot of good songs on albums 1 and 2.

You can get their music at http://bluelaguna.net/splash/ff.php.

I kinda liked Neo Ex-Death and the FFIII final boss theme they did, though...everything else was "meh" :/

Great group name, but i'm not really a fan.
I don't really like any video game music composers.
My view is, if they aren't good enough to make it on their own terms, then they aren't that great. To get popular through an easy-to-abuse medium where people get heavily addicted (video games) doesn't require much skill... SOMEONE out there will like your music, and millions of people will hear it... So yea, never been a fan.

I think I'm pretty much the opposite of you, Lalana. I don't like listening to "normal" music, but do enjoy music from games... maybe I'm just too much of a video game nerd.
And yes, I do like The Black Mages.

On the contrary, I think it's kind of stupid the way the "real" composers do things. Nobuo Uematsu actually composed his work, he didn't take it from others. Not to mention The Black Mages do an excellent job remixing his compositions.

If you were to ask me, the crap you hear on the radio is nothing compared to video game composers. There are some out there who are like classical music composers, except in modern-day form it seems.

That's how I view it, anyway. Besides, Uematsu's music fits just about every Final Fantasy game.

Yeah i liked some the black mages music, I listen to a very wiiiide range of music (pretty much anything). I do prefer music without voice at times though.

My winamp playlist I play all the time ranges from japanese karoke to USA rap trance etc to german rock, to clasical music from italy etc

What I've been listening to recently is game music remix's, although some I don't like some i do oczremix? site has some nice music.

That reminds me I should post some on the random music thread later O_o

yaa OCRemix has some pretty good tracks... ive tried submitting some remixes to them but apparently it's too real for them or something, i guess they're more interested in remixes that still sound like they'd be in a video-game, opposed to music that would be played at a rave or something.

lol. I just started listening to the Bomberman Hero soundtrack that I just downloaded each individual track for. It's rather...nice, actually. lol. Before that I was listening to my Final Fantasy collection, so you know. Relaxing stuff, I love video game music for that very purpose.

Project Majestic is nice, as well. :)

If you like game remixes, you should try listening to some of Vomitron's stuff. There's a few they've taken down on the free playlist that I can upload later if you want.

Yea, but classical music is called classical because... Not too many people like it anymore and the style has died out (Think about it, classic rock is old bands playing old songs... Classic music nowdays are new bands playing old/new/original composition music, and it's still called classic), so for the most part it's reserved for the "cultured." :P
I like some classical music, and there is one game song i DO like... The sephiroth song at the end of FF7... Dislike the movie version though.

I don't know why, but people seem to focus a lot on a games sound track. I usually have to turn off the music in a game before i even get halfway through cuz im sick of hearing the same songs over and over again. I mean the composers are great in their own way i guess... The video game scene is probably the only really large medium for that style of music anymore so i guess they are smart to stick with it.

The only game I have experienced the urge to want to turn the sound off is Drakengard. It fucking loops like none other.
