Default Apparently FFXI thinks I'm stupid.

I've never heard of this type of error message before. This is supposed to be the ToS window. When I try to login, it crashes all the time. I reinstalled it this morning, played it this afternoon, then when I try to login tonight I get this bullshit.

Just accept that you're a dummy and it will let you play? Small price to pay.

Looks like a virus, but I'm no expert.

With the thing crashing as you try to log in, and with all the accounts of people on Neko-Sentai being attacked, I'd go on the side of caution (read: possibly paranoia) and say it's a virus.

hmm possible hack, but... what could people be clicking on here to cause it?

Theirs no java script, no flash... no nothing cept inline script for button animations which have nothing in them cept like.. 1 line of where the button is and another of what it does when you mouse over it.

I've ran across many of the recent links... nothing suspicious on them cept the hentai ones got the usual 'tracking cookie" from porn sites.

The only flash I know of on here is kickerns tutorials but he did that waaaaaayyyy before he lsot his account (think nearly a year?)

If anyone does find something "suspicious" do report it so it can be removed immediately.

Also note, most people visit multiple sites too, I browse pretty much here and BG only, my account still works fine.

So on a hunch I did a file check.

268 files corrupted. In less than 24 hours.

You must of hit alt + printscreen instead of just printscreen. And you need to log in more often!

Hrm, possible that what ever the bug is it was installed in a fashion that most virus scanners don't check. Either that or it is embedded in a fashion that doesn't "flag" during the scan. I've only seen a virus once that did something similar, happened on friends pc and for the life of me I couldn't find where it was hiding and nore did any scan programs pick it up.

All I can say is....hope you had a back up of anything you thought was important or saved it to an external drive. You might have to do a complete wipe and reinstall to get rid of it unless someone else knows where it's hiding it's self.

To be on the safe side I would also try and contact POL and get your password reset over the phone just to be sure your account doesn't become compromised/hacked.

It's fixed in any case, I changed my password via. POL so I didn't actually type it (It's the one that you change with your mouse), the only way they'd still have my pword is if theyt can break FFXI's data encryption.

Probably want to check pc make sure.

Run like...
Threatfire (supposed to detect known/unknown keylog progs, trojans virus using "community response" thing or something.

Hijackthis , run it see if anything "strange" may be running hidden somewhere

spybot look for possible bad spyware

avg and sych, make sure there isn't anything strange sneaking around imo
