Default Question about model viewer, altana view and dats in general

I was wondering two things;
first, do I need to replace a dat in order to display the mods I download on the viewers?
second, how can I see which dat is which dat and in which rom folder?

yes.

and i don't know how to get altanaview to show the .dat paths, but in model viewer go to settings > show DAT path. it will show a number like 1-52-13

first number is rom folder, second number is subfolder and third is the .dat file.
so 1-52-13 = rom 1- folder 52 - 13.dat

AltanaView shows the path of the last .dat file you changed to in the status bar at the bottom of the window. You don't necessarly have to replace .dat files to see them, you could make your own folder to place mods into and then update the appropriate lists. It's a bit more work to do it that way, but if you wanted to have all the original .dats in the list as well as any mods, that is the way to do it.

If you know what you're doing you can add your own paths in model viewer

Not sure about motions in Model Viewer, maybe they are listed as part of the program itself? If that's the case, you can't really change it or add emotes. Just use AltanaView. :P
